Biography
Rebel SoulJahz is an island-reggae vocal group from Waipahu, on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. The four members began singing a cappella together in high school and formed the group around 2006, building a following by playing parties and clubs around Honolulu. Their sound blends reggae rhythms with R&B-style vocal harmonies, with all four members sharing lead-vocal duties rather than fronting a single singer.
The group's debut album, Nothing to Hide, was released in 2008 on GO Aloha Entertainment. It won Reggae Album of the Year at the 2009 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards and charted on Billboard's Top Reggae Albums chart. The record produced several songs that became staples of the catalog, including "Nothing to Hide," "The One," and "Irie Beach Party."
Rebel SoulJahz followed with Bring Back the Days (2009), SoulJahz for Life (2014), 4 the People (2017), and Move with Love (2023), which the band bills as its fifth studio album. The group has toured widely and remains active in the island-reggae scene, with tracks such as "Herb, Whiskey & Reggae" and "Ms. Beautiful" among its better-known songs.
