Experience the heart of the Hawaiian culture and its herbal medicine tradition at a special event on Saturday, July 18 at the Lawai International Center in Kalaheo.
This extremely popular workshop will be led by Sean Chun, a renowned Hawaiian cultural practitioner from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Chun will discuss Hawaiian healing methodology and philosophy, including the use of la’au and ho’oponopono. La’au is healing with spirituality and herbs that address the body, mind, and spirit. Ho’oponopono is a Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness.
Chun is the island coordinator of Kaua’i Kupuna Council of Traditional Healers, the cultural resource coordinator for Ho’ola Lahui Hawai’i, and coordinator of Pihana Ka ‘Ikena, perpetuating the Hawaiian culture.
“We’ll talk about an overview of traditional Hawaiian healing, history, and about various arts that are practiced. A lot that’s out there today isn’t really traditional.” Chun said. “I’ll try to bring more awareness.”
To make a reservation, text or call 808-639-5952 or visit www.lawaicenter.org. There is a $50 donation per person. Light refreshments will be served. The workshop address is 3381 Wawae Road.
“Holding the workshop and demonstration at the Lawai International Center is fitting,” Chun said. “It’s a good combination of place, time, and people who really understand what healing is about.”
The mission of the Lawai International Center is to preserve and nurture the land and its rich cultural heritage, extending a heartfelt invitation to all who wish to experience its essence through the spirit of compassion and Aloha.
